Coach Bobby Sibley stands as a cornerstone of Louisiana basketball, serving as the founder and owner of Rep Your City Hoops and the long-standing Louisiana Basketball Report (LBR), which he has expertly managed since its inception in September 2009. His passion for the game ignited his coaching career in 2005 within the youth AAU circuit, followed by his time as an assistant coach at Christian Life Academy, where he was part of a program that celebrated a 41-2 record and a 3rd Straight state championship in 2008.
Recognizing his talent evaluation abilities, Sibley joined Rivals.com as a writer, contributing to Pelican Preps, the University of Memphis' Tiger Sports Report, and LSU's Tiger Bait as a way to truly promote the untapped talent in his home city and state of Baton Rouge, LA. In 2009, he established the Louisiana Basketball Report, immediately demonstrating its impact by assisting in 31 2010 McDonald's All American nominees, 30 players from the class of 2010 in securing Division I scholarships, including future standouts like Markel Brown, Brian Williams, Langston Galloway, Shavon Coleman, and Chip Armelin along with nearly 100 kids signing to play collegiately. His expertise was further recognized with his top 50 class of 2010 rankings for Scout.com.
Expanding his coaching portfolio, Sibley transitioned to the Junior College ranks, coaching at Frank Phillips College, Navarro College, Dodge City Community College, and his hometown Baton Rouge Community College. His tenure at BRCC was particularly successful, marked by the program's first-ever Miss-Lou Conference Title and the recruitment of Conference Player of the Year Jeffery Walker. Throughout his JUCO coaching career, Sibley remained dedicated to providing exposure for Louisiana talent.
In 2013, he launched the Combine in the Capital, a significant event that connected hundreds of the state's top players with college opportunities, including eventual NBA players Skylar Mays, Jared Butler, JaVonte Smart, and Dexter Dennis. The combine attracted Nike representatives, college coaches, and national media outlets like Courtside Films, Rivals and ESPN. Over the past two decades, Coach Sibley's commitment to player advancement has resulted in thousands of young men and women earning college scholarships and several achieving national rankings across major scouting platforms.
His influence has extended to girls' basketball over the last eight years, becoming an integral part of the scene and contributing to the Nike Girls EYBL program, CyFair Elite, where he played a small role in the development of the nation's top player and multiple McDonald's and Jordan Brand All-American's. Notably, Sibley finds immense satisfaction in helping players secure opportunities at Division I schools, Division 2, Division 3, NAIA and elite JUCO programs, a testament to his extensive network of college coaches at all levels.
